For your comfort and safety, intravenous sedation will be administered during your procedure under the guidance of a board certified Anesthesiologist with Mobile Anesthesiologists, LLC. Sedation allows patients to experience a pain free examination with little or no memory of the procedure.
Before your procedure, you will meet your Anesthesiologist in the pre-operative room. At that time, they will answer any questions you may have. You will then be wheeled into the procedure room, assisted by a Mobile Anesthesia nurse. The nurse will connect a heart monitor, apply a blood pressure cuff and place a cannula in your nose to supply oxygen. Once the physician is ready to begin the procedure, the Anesthesiologist will administer the sedation. Your vitals will be monitored throughout the procedure, by the Anesthesiologist, the Gastroenterologist, and the Midwest Endoscopy nurse.
After your procedure has been completed, you will be wheeled into a recovery room to be monitored by a nurse. Most patients wake up quickly, and will be provided a light snack and something to drink. At this time, your driver may be invited back into the recovery room if you would like. Your physician will come out to discuss the results with you before you are discharged home.
*Please be aware that some hemorrhoid bandings do not require sedation, and may be done in the pre-operative room. Other hemorrhoid bandings are performed in the procedure room. *
